Swinging Golfers Rally
Waycross/Hoboken, Georgia

We made it to the Swinging Golfers Rally in Hoboken, Georgia. Very, very rural. Not wanting to miss any of the Red Sox games, we stopped on the way at a Camping World and bought a moveable satellite dish, tripod and all the accessories thinking we may be camping in the woods somewhere. Instead we are out in the middle of a cow pasture (and I do mean a cow pasture -- we are surrounded by those "mooing" things)! We get satellite but no local channels (meaning, FOX and no Red Sox) because they're so rural here you have to have a special dish! I relied on the kids to give me updates regularly during the games. Good thing I couldn't watch Games 3 and 4...sounds like the Sox didn't look very energetic in those games; but came through in Game 5 to bring the series back to Boston. Good Luck Saturday Red Sox and if you, Terry Francona, are reading this, don't put "Gag-me" in any time soon!!

We played golf Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at The Lakes at Laura S. Walker State Park in Waycross. (One of the things we're noticing so far is the quality of the State Park System in Georgia. The campgrounds and golf courses within the parks are in great shape and don't cost an arm and a leg to stay and play!) Ken had a great week. He won 2nd place in the team quota on Monday; Linda won 3rd place. Tuesday, he won 1st in best team two-ball; Linda won 2nd. Wednesday he won low net and closest to the pin; Linda was a bit cold...or should we say "hot" since it was close to 95 degrees!!

We stayed at the Twin Oaks Bluegrass Rally Park where, on weekends, all sorts of campers, trailers and motorhomes pull in filled with bluegrass "pickers". After our awards dinner on Thursday night, we were entertained by 8-10 locals (including a 10 year old girl on the violin) picking away at their banjos and guitars. It was fabulous.

We had a chance to see some old Swinging Golfer friends at the Rally and met a few new ones too. They are really a great group of people and we look forward to joining them again in February at Lake Placid, Florida. We are off to Americus, Georgia for the Snowbirds Golf Rally at the Brickyard Plantation Golf and RV Resort. Looking forward to more warm Georgia weather and great golf!
