Miami, Florida

February 28 - March 2, 2010

Dick and Suzie Cutter's
Cutler Bay, Miami, Florida

Boy, am I under a lot of pressure here. We arrived at Dick and Suzie's around noon on Sunday and on Monday morning, Suzie is asking why they haven't shown up on our blog yet!!!

What a gracious, welcoming couple. You have to know, we have only met up with these two twice and we're already family! And, I have insisted that they adopt us legally as soon as possible. What a fabulous home they have. How could they leave this place EVER? Then they showed us pictures of what Hurricane Andrew had done! So, their motorhome is ready at any given time in the event that evacuation is needed. Even with the weather colder than normal, we were able to enjoy Miami, golf and the Cutters' hospitality during our short stay in their side yard!

Here is daybreak at the Cutter home. Behind the four bedroom house is an expanse of lawn with beautiful palm trees and then you walk down steps to their own private beach leading to crystal clear waters of a great beach...truly a paradise!

We first took a nice trip to the harbor at Biscayne Bay, passing beautiful homes and marinas just full of yachts -- there are a lot of very wealthy people in this world -- and enjoyed a great lunch at the Tradewinds Bar and Grill overlooking the harbor. Then off we went on a tour of the Bay on the Island Queen (no, not Falmouth's Island Queen), visiting the cruise ship port we have visited on quite a few of our ten cruises, viewed homes of the rich and famous as well as those featured in many movies, and, of course, enjoyed the Miami skyline.

The next day we played 18 holes at the Palmetto Golf Course and believe me, this was not a pretty sight! After no golf for over six weeks, our rust really showed and I was surprised Dick and Suzie stayed with us for all 18!

After golf we had a fabulous dinner prepared by Suzie and then relaxed on their own private beach and had a bonfire, burning only one log and a lot of palm fronds...it's amazing how good those dead fronds burn.

Then it was time to say good-bye...the last thing we did before leaving was check to see if we had Barney. He so loved Dick and Suzie and the feeling, I think, was mutual. Thanks so much guys for the use of your side yard and your incredible hospitality.

Off to Collier-Seminole State Park in the Everglades.

WOW! I think that's about the most beautiful "campsite" I've ever seen! :) I'm afraid that Bob is going to want to buy a house and move to Miami!!!
