Thousand Trails - Chesapeake Bay, VA

You can't see from the picture, but we're flying our Red Sox Flag high and are happy to report we were able to see all games (DirecTV came through). Our site was absolutely beautiful with expansive lawn down to the riverfront.

We met "Susan" and Bob who were a few sites down from us (this meeting was planned; no divine intervention here). We shared many evening meals followed by relaxing camaraderie around the campfire under the stars (even in the VA heat). We spent a day at the Crab Festival at West Point where the temperature had to be close to 100 degrees. I ask myself why I would bear the heat in Virginia, but stay at home in the AC if such an event was happening in my home town? We also took a river cruise on the Rappahannock River on the Captain Thomas to the Ingleside Winery for a tour and some wine-tasting (I love those wine-tasting tours)! One of the highlights of the cruise was the chance to see many bald eagles who nested along the river. Magnificent!!

We visited Sting Ray Point along the Chesapeake Bay (where John Smith was stung by a sting ray back in the 1600's--I knew you'd want to know about this!!) We followed all signs to the Point and when we got there, we found "keep out" "private property" signs. We went anyway. Whose going to bother anyone with a Massachusetts license plate?

We'll see you again in Pinehurst!!
