Emerald Coast RV Resort, Panama City, Florida

March 25 - April 1, 2008

We're spending this week at Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort in Panama City Beach, Florida. The site is much different from those we have been staying at lately at the state parks and Thousand Trails. There is beautiful landscaping and a concrete pad and patio, but the lot itself is much smaller than what we have become used to. Also, the price is much higher than what we have become used to!! And, we have found the people here have not been as friendly as what we have become used to. Can't figure that one out.

Panama City Beach is such a tourist/city destination. The beach road is full of surf shops and sports bars. The rest of the area is a city with an airport and a few malls and a lot of restaurants.
Sarah joined us on the 28th. It is so great to see her!

We spent Friday at St. Andrews State Park where Sarah took her first kayak trip. She wasn't at all nervous; she said that if I could do it, she didn't think she would have any problem. She was right!!

We spent the rest of the day at the beach.

St. Andrews recreation area covers 1,260 acres of coastal dunes, wetlands and forests for fishing, swimming, boating, picnicing and camping. The sand is so white and so soft and, if there are no undertoes, you can walk out quite a way and enjoy the waves. There are a lot of party boats, helicopter tours and "banner" planes passing by the beach.

We also played tourist one day and visited Ripley's Believe It or Not and met the world's tallest man.

This is our first stop where we have not played any golf. We have spent our time enjoying the beach and our visit with Sarah. It's been well worth it!!

We had lunch at the new Margaritaville Cafe and enjoyed a delicious Havanas and Bananas Colada (yummy!!) and a "cheeseburger in paradise".

Then we went shopping at Pier Park, a new shopping area in Panama City Beach and there we found the store "Jake on the Beach". We stopped in but ended up not buying anything... there was nothing with the name of the store on it!

And finally, I fulfilled a lifelong (well half-a-lifetime) dream...I got a tatoo on my ankle. Unfortunately, it's only temporary...fortunately, there was no pain!!! Now I'm cool like Sarah!!

We leave tomorrow for Navarre Beach near Fort Walton Beach. Hopefully we'll have a couple more good beach days so Sarah can go home with a tan!
