Laconia, New Hampshire

April 30 - May 8, 2008

After over 1,500 miles, we arrived to spend a night in Dennis and Jodie's driveway. We were a little sceptical, but Jodie was sure we would fit and she was right!! This was like the best of both worlds. We had our own bed AND we got to take a shower in a real bathroom!! But best of all, we got to spend some time with Zander. The last time we had seen him he was only 4 days old ... now he actually has a personality. What a cutie!! And after just a little while, he warmed up to his Noni and Boppa and we had a great time!

The next day we dropped the rig off in Rumney to get it all spiffed up for the upcoming "around the country" trip. Ken asked the technicians to check the engine as the last part of our trip home he felt an unfamiliar vibration. To our surprise, that large, plastic bag we went over on the trip which we found shredded all over our tow bar had apparently gotten in the engine too and actually damaged the radiator fan, removing a blade and eating up most of the others. The techs were quite surprised we made it as far as we did without a major problem. This made for a couple of trips back and forth, but the rig is now all set to go.

While not in Rumney, we had the "Beave" at Meredith Woods in Meredith, New Hampshire, 20 minutes from Jodie's. You will note from the picture that they still had some snow piles there which didn't make us too happy! We had the family over one night for a barbecue and since they charge for guests (as most campgrounds do) we decided to take advantage of some of the amenities and took Zander to the indoor pool for his first swim. He took to the water immediately (as he takes after his mother who at 10 months crawled into Papoose Pond before anyone could stop her!)

We seem to have missed all the good weather. We're again in our jeans and coats! While Ken and I were complaining about how cold we were, Dennis brought us back to reality by showing us pictures of the snow they had had this winter...we stopped our fussing, but thanked our lucky stars we weren't around for THAT!!

We had a chance to visit my brother, Bob, and his wife Janis, and kids, Jeffrey, David and Elizabeth in Tyngsboro. What a lively household that is!!! It was great having an opportunity to "catch up" on all that's happening with them. I'm telling you, my brother's family keeps him young (and always on the move...I was surprised we found them all at home at the same time!)
We left New Hampshire with Jodie and Zander on Thursday. Dennis will join us on Friday as we begin the celebration of Chris and Jen's wedding. We're all very excited. More on that day later!!
