Grassy Key, Florida

February 21 - 23, 2010

Jolly Roger Travel Park
Marathon, Florida

What a difference a day makes (or even an hour for that matter)! We left Fiesta Key this morning where we had a beautiful bay view and arrived here for a noisy Route 1 view!! We needed a "stopover" for a couple of days and found Jolly Roger in our Passport America membership book. For those of you unfamiliar with rv'ing, this is a yearly membership where you pay half price in participating campgrounds. However, that does not mean you're going to get a waterfront, premium site. Oh well, it's a great day and we're heading out to do some yaking. Who can really complain??

We had a great couple of hours in some of the nicest, clearest waters we've seen here on the Keys. It was a bit breezy, but not enough to keep us out of the water. Alas, no pictures...Ken felt we had enough pictures of me in the kayak. Just as we got back to the Beave, the sun went away and the rains came (not expected until that night), so we participated in one of our most loved activities...the afternoon nap. Can't be beat!

Then off to the Wreck and Galley Grill...another colorful Keys' sports bar; great hamburgers and good atmosphere.

The rain never did go away so I spent the next morning rearranging our itinerary and the afternoon doing laundry. A trip to the grocery store was in order as our next destination is 20 miles from the nearest store. I just went for lunches and cereal and spent over $150; it's amazing what you NEED to have in case it's awhile before you can shop again. I actually had to rearrange the cabinets in order to fit everything in and I'll bet some of that stuff will still be there when we get home this June.

Tomorrow we're off to Long Key State Park. Suzie and Wayne should be landing in Miami in another hour so we'll meet up with them sometime Tuesday. Can't wait!!!

We leave you with yet another sunset from the Keys.
