Thousand Trails - Orlando, Florida

February 10 - 24, 2008

Orlando, Florida

We arrived back in Orlando and sadly, Marilyn and Greg and Susan and Bob are not here to join us this time. We did, however, travel to Tampa one day to visit with Marilyn and Greg and welcome Marilyn's sister and her husband, Betty and David, who were visiting from Maine to attend a family wedding. Marilyn put on quite a spread (as usual) and we had a very enjoyable afternoon. Unfortunately, I neglected to bring the camera so we have no proof that we were really there!!!

We spent a lot of time relaxing while in Orlando this trip. We had window shades made for the windshield which really helps keeping the temperature down in the coach. We also had the carpet cleaned which meant Ken had to spend the time outdoors with Barney while I went shopping!!! Both jobs were done by people in the Park. A lot of full-timers travel from park to park and earn their living by performing these services to fellow campers.

We also found a great groomer for Barney and he looks handsome again. He is really an even-tempered animal, never barking and only attacking the pillows when we leave him alone too long. He has proven to be a veteran traveller and had our neighbors this trip checking the Internet for Cavachon puppies.

We also took Barney "yaking" with us this trip. I must admit I was a little nervous. This lake is the home of a few alligators...I was hoping they wouldn't think we were bringing lunch! Luckily we didn't see any.

We got a couple of rounds of golf in. I had my come-uppance from the last couple of times we played. These courses had large, fast greens. I didn't have any trouble getting on the greens, but then 3-putted most of them. Ken would play one 9-holes like the old Ken and then fall apart on the next 9-holes. We're meeting up with the Swinging Golfers next week, so hope we can show a little more consistency then. After all, those $20 first prizes are coveted!!

We've illuminated the flags and it looks real nice. The picture doesn't do it justice. Note we are flying our Red Sox flag...after all Spring Training has begun!! It's amazing we never hear about it around here. I really do miss the Boston sportscasters!!

We also witnessed the total lunar eclipse while in Orlando. Again, the picture doesn't do it justice, but it's a reminder to us.
We are once again heading south to join the Swinging Golfers in Lake Placid, Florida. We'll have three days of golf and evening dinners with our new travelling friends. Can't believe this will close out the month of February!
